I recently tuned a car that made ~450whp on 13psi of boost on 93 octane pump gas, if it was running a JWT chip it would have had light detonation (based on JWT's timing tables). Until you get the car tuned/checked under high loads by someone with good equipment/experience, running race gas would provide some safety. If the car is properly tuned for the gas, then its not an issue, but otherwise it is pretty much a shot in the dark... But that's not the major reliability issue for road racing... I would suggest you get an accusump put in asap.
